Dear Family and Friends,

Monday - so it was my last pday here in Wales, and we went with the district to the beach! It was SO much fun to spend time with them for my last full day, and the beach was BEAUTIFUL! We were blessed with a sunny day and it wasn't too cold outside, so that was lovely :) from there we said some last goodbyes, had dinner with the Bernard's and Deb, and then said goodbye to Lauren (who hopefully will get her mission call ASAP! AHHHH!) and then said goodbye to the Holcombe family and did the last minute final bits of packing....

Tuesday - so we got ready to go, and sister sharp and I just kind of sat around in the flat....trying not to think about me leaving. It was a really hard morning for me, and I may have cried a tiny bit. Or a lot. We got a ride to the coach with my stuff, said the last goodbyes to the district and zone, and off I went to England! It was cool to get to see people at the mission home, but hard to say goodbye....and then I had to drive from Birmingham to Coventry that day, as my companion doesn't have her license! So crazy. I didn't crash or hit anything or anyone, so thank you for your prayers. They worked :) we were able to meet a few people and teach some lessons, which was way cool, and sister Chen is amazing! We also are in a trio for a couple weeks, as Sister Frandsen is waiting for her trainee to get here, and she won't be here till the 29th. So we are having her with us until then, as she has nowhere else to go, poor thing! It is cool to be in a trio again, but also weird... 

Wednesday - wow. This day was a BLUR. It was my first full day here in Coventry, and so adjusting to the big city life when coming from Rhiwbina has been weird, but I love it! It is such a different area, and I love it for different reasons than I loved Rhiwbina, but so far it is amazing! There are some amazing people we are working with, both investigators and recent converts and others, and it is just so cool to see how prepared some people are to learn about God and everything! WOW!  

Thursday - I used sign language today, which was WAY cool. We were walking to this lesson at the uni, and this lady waved us down as we were walking around a corner and was asking for help because she was deaf and needed us to call her friend to figure out where she was to meet up with her. We figured it out, and I was able to talk to her for a minute (in VERY bad sign language because I have forgotten so much) but I was able to introduce myself and say I was from Canada and was a missionary. It was lucky, she knows how to speak ASL and BSL so we were able to communicate! Such a cool thing to be able to do on my mission :) I want to practice up my sign language skills now....

Friday - We had district meeting with President and Sister Leppard! It was so good to see them, and to learn from them again. We are really focusing on changing our mission culture to work with members more and really use that relationship to strengthen the ward and new converts and things, and it was so good to get new ideas on how to do that. This day was just a BLUR. I feel as though I have never been so tired on my mission as I have this week, probably cause with transfers and things I got less sleep and I am a bit stressed....but it has been good. We taught a lot of lessons and it was just a solid day! 

Saturday - I think every day here in Coventry is just going to fly by...wow. So we do sports here every Saturday at 11, and we went and played football and basketball with members, investigators, and just people who want to come! It was so much fun, and I was able to meet more people here which was so good. We then had a few lessons, and visited a lady named Claudia and her family. They are SO amazing, and so loving and just want to help out the missionaries so much! It was so good to see her faith and her family as well. I love being missionary and seeing the joy the gospel brings into people's lives :) 

Sunday - whew. I feel as though this week just went by in a BLUR. I have said that like every day...but wow. The ward here is so big, and so it was a bit overwhelming compared to Rhiwbina, where I knew everyone but it was so cool to be in a big ward again and have so many people to work with. No wonder there are 4 sets of missionaries in this ward :) SO MANY PEOPLE. I got to meet quite a few people and I was able to give a talk as well actually, so it was really good to help people get to know me and recognise me. Also, I met some people who served with people from Cardston on their missions (Ben Wright and Kylie Wilde) which was so cool, it is interesting how many connections we really have with people all over the world! I love being able to meet new people and share the gospel with so many people. I met a LOT of people and we had some lessons, which was so good! Life is busy here in Coventry. 

Something I have learned this week, is just how important it is to LOVE everyone around you. The world is a crazy place, but as we show love to those around us, it makes it easier for us, and for them, to have a good day and a good week and a good life. It is SO hard to enjoy your day when you don't feel loved and you don't share love, but...when you do share your love for others, you make people happy! I love sharing my love with people here, and brightening their day, and my challenge this week is to just share your love with those around you, whether it is cleaning up for your mom, baking cookies, heart attacking, or anything! Just do it :)

A Welsh Goodbye

Dear Family and Friends,

Monday - we went to town for a bit, and played some sports with the Elders which was fun and then went and had FHE with a single sister in the ward, which was REALLY good! It was so fun to go and do that with her.

Tuesday - we went and had a very interesting lesson with a man named Ian. He is halfway through Helaman in the Book of Mormon, and this is his 2nd time reading through it. He has lots of ideas and questions and it was really just...an interesting lesson. Sister sharp will be back to see him this week with her new companion, so it should be exciting! We then went and tried stopping by some other people, and got to see Marilyn again! She is the sweetest thing, and we gave her the info about when the family history centre is open and so she will be coming to do that soon!

Wednesday - we had zone meeting! It was Elder Page's last zone meeting, so we were able to hear his departing testimony which was so good. He is an awesome missionary :) we then went to fairwater and met a lady named Diane, who is also just quite the character. She was sweet though,  and she believes the church is true which is AMAZING. We also went to youth that night and played death hockey, which I have played before and is just hockey, with the lights turned off and glow sticks on the sticks and the puck - it is WAY fun and it was really good to be able to help out with youth!

Thursday - we went and saw John, with Lynne and Ben Naylor from the ward and it was SO good. He is listening to the Book of Mormon on CD right now (cause he's blind and can't read) and so hopefully will be coming to church soon! He is wonderful :) we then hiked a mountain to get to this appointment in a tiny village just out of Cardiff, we walked through the forest and fields and it was an ADVENTURE, but we made it safely and on time which was good! We had to travel to Merthyr that night, as we had exchange on Friday! Exchanges have changed, and now both sisters travel to the sister training leaders area and work there for the day, each with one of the STL's, so it was cool to get to travel up there with sister sharp.

Friday - we had exchange! I went with Sister Marsden for the day, and Sister Sharp went with sister Sorensen. We went and visited this lovely man name Richard, who just loves the Book of Mormon and has such a good heart, it was wonderful to visit with him. We then went tracting for a bit, and visited some lovely people, it was interesting to see how tracting is different in different areas! We then came back for lunch and I got a call from president telling me that I was called to be a Sister Training Leader  that made the rest of the day quite emotional, but it was good to be with the sister training leaders at the time I got the call to talk through it with them a bit. They are just so wonderful. This was a HUGE shock to me. Since I am training Sister Sharp, I was supposed to be with her for 12 weeks....and it has been 6.  We then travelled back to Rhiwbina and went to games night! 

I am going to Coventry, and as a Sister Training Leader will be covering the Coventry zone sisters, and the Leicester zone sisters. My companion will be Sister Chen ( I think that is how it is spelled) and she is from Taiwan actually! She will be helping me to start this new adventure and help me to know what to do as STL. My goodness. She also goes home in 6 weeks, so I have 6 weeks to learn how to be STL and to learn my new area. I am VERY nervous, but I know that the Lord will help me out as I do my best to serve him in this new calling.

Saturday - we had brunch with the Maizeys, who I just love SO much, and then went and saw Rosemary! She is looking after this cat right now, and is just so funny about it haha. She loves her cats. We then helped out at a member of the wards nerf gun birthday party, and did some service there, and then weekly planned so that sister sharp could feel comfortable taking over the area after I leave! We got some good plans set, and she should be just fine :)

It is really hard because no one was expecting me to leave at ALL, so I have a lot of goodbyes to say, and I was hoping to pick up some Welsh things, but it may have to wait till I come back to visit. This is like my second home and it will be REALLY hard to leave, and I LOVE Sister Sharp and am so sad that I have to leave her as well. But I am excited for the next adventure and to learn and grow even more. I know I have been called for a reason, and there are people that God needs me to help, and people that need to help me, and that is in Coventry, so there I will go!

Sunday - we had church, and I had to say goodbye to most of the members of the ward, which was really hard....I love Rhiwbina and it was so hard to say goodbye. They sang the Welsh goodbye to me and Elder Page, and I just bawled the whole time, this place feels like home and it is going to be really hard to leave. We then went to the Rider's for dinner, and then to the Webb's for one last coordination, and said goodbye to them. It was quite an emotional day, but it was good :)

So in my studies this week, especially towards the end of the week, I have been thinking a lot about my faith and...where I am at with my faith. I came across this quote from Boyd K. Packer, which says,

 "There are two kinds of faith. One of them functions ordinarily in the life of every soul. It is the kind of faith born by experience; it gives us certainty that a new day will dawn, that spring will come, that growth will take place. It is the kind of faith that relates us with confidence to that which is scheduled to happen. …

“There is another kind of faith, rare indeed. This is the kind of faith that causes things to happen. It is the kind of faith that is worthy and prepared and unyielding, and it calls forth things that otherwise would not be. It is the kind of faith that moves people. It is the kind of faith that sometimes moves things. … It comes by gradual growth. It is a marvelous, even a transcendent, power, a power as real and as invisible as electricity. Directed and channeled, it has great effect. …"

I was thinking...I have the faith that comes from experience. I am trying to work towards having faith that causes things to happen, that changes the world in whatever way I can change it for the better. I completely believe that each of us, as individuals can change the world for the better in SOME way, and it is up to us to figure out how to do that. I am hoping that in the next few weeks, and months, I can work towards having the faith that changes things and people and makes the world a better place, so my challenge this week, is just to notice the influence you have on others around you, and to do something that changes someones day for the better! The small things we do really have an influence, and we can help people every day just by doing those small things :)

I love you all lots, and I am excited (although nervous) for this next adventure on my mission!

It was the first British cooked breakfast for Sister Sharp, although for some reason I couldn't get either of them to eat 'blood pudding'😀 

We're gonna miss this one so much! Thank you for lending her to us. We have loved her being part of our lives. The ward said farewell to her today in our customary way.... (The Maizey Family)

Dear Family and Friends,

So I forgot my planner, so I will do my best to rundown the things
that happened this week!

My best thing this week......
We had a lesson with a lady named Dana, and she is very forgetful so
it can be kind of hard to keep her focused...and we shared with her a
book of mormon that has a member of the church's testimony in it, and
read it with her and the spirit was SO strong, and she loved it and
stayed focused the ENTIRE time we read it with her, which was a
miracle, and she now wants to read it, so we are really excited about
that!

The biggest challenge this week...
We had a struggle this week actually getting in to see people...but it
actually turned into a bit of a miracle, because next week we have a
lesson planned for almost every hour of EVERY day, which has never
happened before on my mission, so I am excited about that! It should
be really good.

We have had some other cool miracles this week, we have been trying to
see a man named Ian for AGES, but he just hasnt been home, and we
stopped by again the other night, and HE WAS HOME! Turns out he had
been in the hospital for hip replacement surgery and had just gotten
back home. They tried to keep him in the hospital longer but he is
stubborn and so he gets to be home, but the nurses have to check on
him to make sure he doesnt go out riding his Harley Davidson. (in case
you cant tell, Ian is a boss for 75 years old). The reason he had to
have surgery is becasue he ran 2 full marathons and wrecked his hips,
but he raised 20,000 £ for cancer research so he said he doesnt care.
Anyways, Ian is amazing and has read the entire book of  mormon, and
so we are going back this week to see what he thinks of it now that he
is home! I am very very excited about that.

This week was also challenge week, which is when our zone leaders give
3 random challenges every day (ex. hug a stranger, touch 7 cats,
etc..) and we have to incorporate it into our missionary work. That
made this week really fun actually, as we got to add random things to
our conversations with people.

We also got to go to "clean for the queen" which basically was just
litter picking in the park. For the queen I guess? But we cleaned up
LOADS of litter and were able to help out with the ward, which was
WONDERFUL! I have attached some pictures of us with the ward and some
of the kids in the ward. We had loads of fun and also got  a lot of
service done!

Basically, this week has been really good. I feel as though the weeks
are going by faster and faster, I hit my 7 month mark this week...and
it is crazy how fast my mission is going by! Something I have come to
realize this week is how much God loves his children. He loves
EVERYONE on the earth so very very much, and I have been so blessed to
feel of that love this week, and to be able to share it a little bit
in the things that I have done. My challenge for the week is just to
share YOUR love for someone, whether it be a brother or sister or
mother or father, or cousin or friend, and just share it by doing a
random act of kindness for them this week. The little things mean a
lot more to people than we realize, and it helps them feel Gods love
for them!
