Sister Challenge Week = LOADS of miracles!

Dear Family and Friends,

So this week has been a bit different :) we decided to do a Sisters
Challenge Week, so we organized that and every day sent out some
challenges and the winners get a great prize! We were really excited
for this week and LOADS of miracles came from it. It was amazing!

Monday - so on Monday we called some former investigators (people who
had been taught before) and NO one answered. We then had dinner with
Tish, and then went and taught Kristina an AWESOME lesson! She is so
prepared :)

Tuesday - MIRACLES. First off, we saw bill and said goodbye as he
headed back to Nigeria this week...sadness. But he is pumped to get
the priesthood there and the church is 10 minutes from his house so
it's perfect! We then went teaching with Milla, a member in our ward
who is going to do a mini mission with us soon!!! And we taught
Rajinder, who is so cool and who wants to prepare to be baptized!!! We
then had a MIRACLE with Milla. So we were stopping by less actives and
no one was home.

The LAST person we stopped by was supposed to be a
man named William, but when the door opened it was a lady named
Dorothy who moved from Ghana and married William AND is also a member
of the church. It was funny, she was like "I just have one concern
with coming back to church..." We of course were worried it was a huge
concern, and said, "well, what is it?" And....she said "'my records
are in Ghana."Which is the EASIEST thing to fix ever. So we told her to come to
church on Sunday and we could get it sorted out and she was SO HAPPY!
We then also saw Chloe, who I love to pieces and had a great lesson
with her, and then saw a few more people and...basically had a
fabulous day!

Wednesday - so Wednesday I wasn't feeling well at ALL, and we started
to study and things and I was just not well so I ended up sleeping for
a few hours. We then went out and worked, as I felt a little better!
Woo! Probably should've rested a little more but that's ok :) we
taught a few lessons, and had dinner with our ward mission leader who
has the cutest baby ever, and then had ward council!

Thursday - ZONE CONFERENCE!!! It was so good. President and sister
Leppard and the AP's and part of the mission presidency came, and we
just learned a whole lot. We then started exchanges with the Warwick
sisters right after, and had so many miracles :) sister Prasad and I
met so many cool people on the street, and then taught Uche! He is
leaving soon for a year so we probably won't see him again :(

Friday - we had such a cool lesson with a lady named Tanya!! She is
from Croatia, and just had a lot of sadness in her life....but we were
able to share how the gospel truly makes us happier, and she has a
sincere desire to be happy again! It was really amazing. We stopped by
some other people, finished exchanges, and then did a load of weekly
planning...

Saturday - MIRACLES AGAIN! We had a former investigator call US and
ask us to meet with him, so we did and he is awesome! He just
struggled with understanding and wants to learn again! So cool. We
then stopped by more people and then taught Adriana and had a miracle
with her. She referred us to her ex husband and he came in and we
ended up teaching him and saying a prayer with their whole family! It
was so cool.

Sunday - wow. More and more miracles. So we had this amazing lesson
after church with someone that a member referred to us, and then set
up an appointment for us, and then came and taught with us! Talk about
member missionary work. So cool. She is amazing and has so many good
questions too. We then had a random miracle...we were stopping by an
investigator right before we were going to go home to eat, and she
opened the door but was really tired. She is 8 months pregnant, and
she was like "oh sisters I still have to cook" and looked so
exhausted, so we offered to cook for her!! Now, she is from Zimbabwe,
so they cook food a lot differently and its traditional African food.
But we learned how to make it with her teaching us, and cooked dinner
for her and her brother, and then they invited us to stay for dinner
and we talked about the gospel! So cool. AND we have a sister in our
zone from Africa who loves this kind of food, and now we know how to
make it so we called her and are going to make it for her before she
goes home :) so cool!

Basically I am just so happy this week. It has been so miracle
filled!!! And that makes me happy. I just know that when we have faith
and act, miracles will happen every single day. Even thought sometimes
they are small miracles, they are miracles and when you notice them
you are so much happier! My challenge this week is to write down a
miracle every single day! You will become happier :)

Love you all lots!

Forgiveness is . . . . rediscovering the strengths we always had . . . .

Dear Family and Friends,

Monday - We had the best pday ever - Sister Gillette and I TOOK A NAP. That is the best. Basically, it made us so much happier all day! Then we went to IKEA with the district, and just walked around and such...and...it was fun! Then we ended up teaching a random lesson after Pday with these guys at their doorstep, and after the lesson we said a prayer and things and then left and one of the guys ran out down the street after us asking us to tell him more about prophets and our beliefs! He mainly kind of wanted to bash us...but we just gave him a Book of Mormon and told him to read it and pray about it. It was an interesting night!

Tuesday - Wow. We had a crazy day! We taught a lesson with Milla, a member from our ward who is going to do a mini mission with us soon (SO EXCITING!) and saw this less active family we are working with! We then travelled to Birmingham to pick up some new sisters and bring them to Leicester! So then we went to Leicester, and then we went BACK to Coventry and got stuck in traffic....but we made it in time for our DA and family night with Georgie!

Wednesday - So Sister Gillette had "trunky meeting" - so basically about 6 months before you go home, the mission does a self reliance meeting to talk about your life plans and stuff. They want to make sure we can function when we go home...which is good. So I got to work in Coventry with sister gombe for the day! And travel to Birmingham and back twice....wow. It was crazy haha. We then also saw Adriana, a lady we are teaching and had a GREAT lesson with her after I got Sister Gillette back.

Thursday - EXCHANGES! We had exchanged with Sister Larsen and Sister Horwath, who are both so fun, and we saw MIRACLES. We had some amazing lessons, and were able to see this part member family we are working with and had a GREAT lesson about the plan of salvation, AND they had been reading and praying together as a family :) it was great!! AND the best thing of all - we had this girl in our ward who I love to death, but who hasn't been to church in a while text us saying she wanted her testimony back! I could've cried. It was the best day. :)

Friday - We had some more amazing lessons, and Sister Horwath and I went tracting and basically tracted some mansions. I tried to take a picture cause there were lion statues but I missed the statues and just got a wall  and our faces haha. We then took the sisters back to the train station, and....it was great! We then had a lesson with Georgie and....did her hair! Haha and then saw bill, who I love so much but he's moving back to Nigeria soon till September....sadness. But we had a great lesson with him!

Saturday - I finished the Old Testament!!!! Yep. I started it in Rhiwbina and I FINALLY FINISHED. I'm now in the New Testament and I'm super excited about that. I have a goal to read all the scriptures through at least once on my mission and I'm almost done D&C as well so this is good. I learned a LOT from the Old Testament (lots about sacrifice....) but I'm excited to start the New Testament. I love learning about Christ's time on earth. But anyways! This day was a day of service. We did a garden service and went to teach a lesson and ended up stripping off wallpaper...AND teaching an amazing lesson. We were teaching the Plan of Salvation, and during the lesson one of the sons (there are 3 kids, 2 sons and a daughter) said "mom, you need to get us baptized!" And they were just like "when can we do it??" It was SO COOL. The spirit is a powerful thing and it touched their hearts :)

Sunday - MIRACLE DAY!!! So we had 3 less active people we were working with COME! And they had never come before, so this was a miracle. Most of them hadn't come for YEARS. It made me so very happy. And then we had the part member family we were working with come too, and they loved it which was FABULOUS. and members gave us food and chocolate, which is always a miracle as well. AND we were able to help Solange with her family history! Life is good here in Coventry.

So in my studies this morning, I was reading in Matthew in the New Testament, and I came across this quote in the institute study manual that goes along with the chapter I was reading.

"Forgiveness is freeing up and putting to better use the energy once consumed by holding grudges, harboring resentments, and nursing unhealed wounds. It is rediscovering the strengths we always had and relocating our limitless capacity to understand and accept other people and ourselves" - Sidney Simon

I really like the end part of that quote...and I think some times I don't think that about forgiveness. Sometimes I don't realize the ability I have to understand and accept others, let alone myself. I think sometimes forgiving ourselves is even harder than forgiving others...and that's something I want to work on this week. I want to understand and accept myself and others a whole lot more.

I love you all lots!! Thank you for your support!!

the battle goes on every day and must be fought with courage . . .

Dear Family and Friends,

Wow. So....wow. This week has been insane. So much craziness has happened, but it's been good.

Monday - so we went to the transport museum as a district, which was WAY fun. I was the only one in the district who had been before, so it was good to go with everyone else! Then after pday we went to dinner with Tish, which was so good and we got to meet her daughter who came all the way from South Africa! Then....poor sister Gillette really wasn't feeling well, so we came back and I taught a phone lesson with a friend of ours and that was our day!

Tuesday - we were actually able to see quite a few people!!! We taught some good lessons in the morning, did service for Georgie in her garden (which was WAY fun!) and then taught some more lessons in the afternoon! And that night we planned out the Coventry zone meeting with the elders! It was a solid day.

Wednesday - we had zone meeting in Leicester! Wow. This was one of the best zone meetings i have ever been to on my mission actually. The spirit was so strong and I think everyone there was touched. I learned a lot about my purpose, and was reminded of why I came out here in a mission, and why I am still here. It was SO good. We came home and had a bit of a crazy experience driving in the rain....wow haha. We drove through a river on the motorway, which was quite exciting. But we were safe so it's all ok! We had a cool miracle where we went to see our Romanian family, and we ended up singing for them. They love music, and were singing for us in Romanian about Jesus, and then they were like "it's your turn!!" So we sang a hymn, and then they had a friend walk in the door named Cornelius. The family was like "sing again!!" And so we agreed and I was looking through for a hymn and decided on Joseph smiths first vision, and we ended up teaching the restoration to Cornelius from the song! We explained it and...it was just a really cool experience. Music touches hearts :)

Thursday - we had the Coventry zone meeting, which was also amazing! We could really feel the love our leaders and the zone has for each other. It was awesome :) after zone meeting we went to Warwick to help the sisters out there, which was a really good experience for me. Sometimes, I think God helps us to help others more than we ever could on our own. I know I am not "qualified" exactly to help these sisters, but God helps me to do it! I felt so blessed to have his help...and it was a good experience. We then went to dinner with Georgie, who brought her friend who we then ended up giving a chapel tour to and teaching a lesson! Members sharing the gospel with their friends is always the best!! It was so cool. Miracles every day :)

Friday - we taught some lessons in the morning, and then had to take some sisters to Birmingham to help them out and were stuck in traffic for like an hour and a half....ugh. But we were able to help them and get back safely AND still teach a lesson in the evening, so that was good. We are always blessed when we help others anyways :)

Saturday - we saw bill in the morning! He was so happy about his baptism and everything, it was awesome!! He is such a cool kid, and it going to bring loads of people to the church I think. We then had sports and then had a crazy day trying to figure out where we were supposed to go for dinner cause we couldn't read the name AT ALL on our dinner list. It was an exciting adventure...my goodness. And then...all our lessons fell through. It was one of those days, but I think a cool miracle is we were able to find out about some people in the ward that moved away! So we now know that and can move their records....woo!

Sunday - we had church, which was really good and Bill got confirmed!! Such a good day. We tried to teach some people with Solange, but no one was home or we were only able to set up return appointments but it was still really good to go teaching with her. We then had a MIRACLE after dinner. We just stopped by this investigator, and his sister was home as well and we ended up teaching an amazing lesson with both of them and they are going to read the scriptures and pray together!!! SO COOL. Miracles all day every day :)

So I wanted to go back to those points I have been sharing...and share the last one!

1. don't be afraid
2. have faith
3. work
4. do what is right
5. persevere to the end.

Persevere to the end. I think sometimes we have hard days, or weeks, or months, or even years. It can be HARD sometimes. There is a quote that says "people who struggle with challenges need to know that the battle goes on every day and must be fought with courage and honour and faith. We need to remind ourselves that God is allowing our faith to grow as we reach and stretch for him." Sometimes, we have hard times that allow our faith to grow as we give everything to God. Ultimately, it is as we give our life to God that we find true happiness, and we are able to make it through the hard times we face. My challenge is just to remember to persevere to the end - whether it's the end of a day, a week, or a year - and remember that God knows each of us and has a plan. Sometimes, his plan isn't our plan. In fact, most of the time it isn't our plan. But his plan always makes us happier and allows us to grow more than our plan ever would.

I love you all lots!! Thank you for your support!!

believe it, preach it, achieve it!!

Dear Family and Friends,

My week!

Monday - the last Monday of the transfer!!! So we went and did laser quest - it was SO MUCH FUN! We went with the whole district and solange and Claudia and Rodrigo and Georgie! It was a blast and we rocked it. Then we said some goodbyes to investigators and members and had dinner and taught a couple lessons! We had an amazing last day together :)

Tuesday - transfer day 😬 so I said goodbye (kinda, cause she was coming to Bill's baptism on Saturday) to sister Rasmussen and picked up my lovely new companion, Sister Gillette! She is from Gilbert Arizona, and is Sister Lowders best friend from home so that is fun!  She is kind of the same as me. We get along well so it's really good! She came out one transfer before me, so she's been out about 11 months. And it is exciting because she has permission to drive AND to get her UK license, so we just gotta do that before she hits her year mark in 19 days. So now I don't have to drive every single day! We taught bill, and talked to him about his baptism and then taught Georgie, and then saw Solange and Claudia! It was a solid day!

Wednesday - we were able to see some people that we haven't seen in AGES, and met some new families who are less active and who have kids that aren't baptized, and we are now teaching them so that is super exciting!! Sister Gillette and I are determined to Reactivate the ward....well...as many as we can in our time together.

Thursday - we had district meeting! We have a whole new district essentially, as half the district left so it was fun to get to know everyone, and to really learn more about everyone. This day was also a huge miracle day, we had so much faith and BAM! Miracles happened. We went tracting with a member because our lesson fell through, and we GOT LET IN! Someone let us in and let us teach them and how they have a Book of Mormon! And 2 other people let us teach them as well! And a family is praying about a day to be baptized! MIRACLES EVERYWHERE!!!

Friday - we had MLC which was AMAZING. So much inspired training - there was a lot about faith which was so good for sister Gillette and I :) and then we taught a few people, bill had his baptismal interview, and we had an AMAZING lesson with our friend Kristina. She is so prepared....and she knows she wants to get baptized. Miracles everyday.

Saturday - BILL'S BAPTISM!!!! WOO! It was AMAZING! He looked so happy, and we are just so happy for him. It was such a good day.

Sunday - so this Sunday was really cool, cause we had a Tri-stake conference with Lichfield, Birmingham and Coventry. It was even cooler because....Elder Dallin H. Oaks came! It was an amazing amazing conference. I learned a lot about how much I need to noticed the miracles more in my life. Such a fabulous day!

Sister Gillette and I have been talking a lot about the miracles we want to see this transfer, and we have decided it all starts with our faith. If we have enough faith, anything can happen!! So basically, we have decided that we are going to work our butts off, set high goals, and see MIRACLES all transfer. We have some high goals and we definitely want to achieve them, and we know that

"if you have the faith to believe it, and the voice to preach it, you and God can achieve it!"

We have already seen SO MANY miracles this week just by increasing our faith that they can happen. There is a scripture in the Bible where the disciples ask Christ to increase their faith. I've thought a lot about that this week....and I've just been asking God to help me, as I strive to have enough faith, that I really can and that we will see miracles. And so far, miracles have happening in just a few short days. One of our friends is praying and fasting about a day to get baptized! Bill got baptized on Saturday, and we have found some amazing new people to teach, AND a member is going to go on a mini mission with us in a couple weeks!!!! AHH! So cool :) miracles are everywhere. And we are going to increase our faith and see so many more.

My challenge is to increase your faith and notice at least 1 miracle everyday, and every night...write it down! It'll make you happier, and that makes the world happier :)

Love you all lots!

Scriptures

Alma 29:9 "I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy."

Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Scriptures

2 Nephi 4:28,30 "Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the enemy of my soul. Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my salvation."
